This is an excellent fat to use for cooking. It is clean and doesn't have an odor. I like the high smoke point and is great for basting chickens, using in the skillet to make steak, and sauteing vegetables. Unlike many other tallows available online, this one does not have any additives/preservatives.
I store it in the fridge, because it will take me a about 6 months to go through. I scoop about a 1/2 cup and keep it room temperature on the counter in a mason jar so I have soft stuff to work with everyday.
I've also used it on my skin as a lotion/moisturizer - works pretty nicely.
I rendered my own tallow once, it was very time consuming (about 4 hours) and it smelled like steak. It's okay if you're making steak or eggs, which is why I purchased this for a cleaner fat.
