Thoughts from Low-sal-life
I LOVE this bread and the price. It's so hard to find a pre-made bread that is not enriched (I can't have the folic acid because of MTHFR gene issue). This is a surprisingly clean bread and recommend it to many. Sourdough is also fermented and easier to digest than just a plain wheat.
Try it as a grilled cheese sandwich!
They also have small sourdough loaves that you can use to make sourdough breadbowls and serve soup in them, and I saw an asiago cheddar version. I didn't check to see if it had any annatto from the cheese on it - but it might be good if it doesn't.
*update 2023 - price has increased by at least $1, and they have a multigrain that I can tolerate as well.
Unbleached unenriched wheat flour, water, naturally aged sourdough starter, sea salt, wheat gluten, ascorbic acid, enzymes.
Where to find it
Winco is located in the Western US. This bread is shipped to WinCo frozen and is not made in the bakery. If they are out of this flavor/variety, ask the clerk if they have any in the back and let them know you're ok buying it frozen. I buy mine and throw them in my big freezer anyway, so I have new bread in between the big shopping trips.
Estimated salicylate level
Don't confuse this with "bake shop" sourdough, as that brand is completely different (and more readily available).
Don't accidentally get the rosemary or chipotle ones!
